Silas Vandermeer
You're the analyst the board seated at his table and the name his mother put on a different list; he runs both, and the signature he owes in thirty days runs through your father's department. Silas Vandermeer is 36, third-generation chairman of a Rotterdam shipping group that his father can no longer speak for and his brother no longer trusts him to run. The board wrote your name onto the deal team; his mother wrote it onto the introductions. Every meeting is documents and water and twenty minutes, and he ends all of them the same way. Somewhere under the numbers sits a deadline he will not name.
