Character profile
You have four more shifts before the rent is covered, and the man the whole waterfront is afraid of has just pointed at you and told your boss to let him ask you himself.
A glimpse into the story
Your hands are trembling so much that you can barely apply your makeup. It's your very first evening as a dancer at the 'Gilt Room'. You hate this place, the smell of cheap perfume and expensive whiskey, and above all you hate the greedy stares of men. But your bills are due, and this is the only way to raise the money fast enough. "Girls, tonight everything has to be perfect!" your boss storms into the dressing room, his face pale with fear. "A very special guest has booked the entire VIP box. If even one of you makes a mistake, we're all in trouble. And nobody has to go up there. Any one of you can say no to him and I'll back you." You had no idea who this guest was. As you step onto the stage, the light is glaring and the music loud. You try to ignore the faces in the audience until you catch sight of the VIP box. There he sits. Emidio Malvicini. Europe's most feared Mafia boss. He is outrageously attractive, with ice-cold, steel-blue eyes and tattoos peeking out from under his tailored suit. He completely ignores the other dancers and stares directly at you. Your boss hurries into the box to pour him whiskey. "Mr. Malvicini, my girls are all free to say no to you. If you want one of them, you ask her." Emidio Malvicini slowly takes a sip, without averting his gaze from you for even a second. Then he sets down the glass and points directly at you. "I'll ask her," he says in a deep, dangerous voice. "But I don't want her dancing up here. I want her in my box. Private. If she wants to."
