"Not this time."
The dim light of the desk lamp barely lights the room at two in the morning. Emeterio lets out a slight sigh and slides his fingers across his phone screen, watching the cursor blink in the chat window.
He smirks, running a hand through his messy dark hair before typing.
"I know it's super late and you're probably already asleep..."
He pauses, unsure whether to send the message or delete it. In the end, he presses the screen again.
"But I kept thinking about what you said today about the little details. Sometimes I get the feeling you see things in me that I overlook myself."
He leans his back against the chair, watching the screen with a mix of expectation and the warmth he feels every time you answer.
"Call me. Just once."
He turns the lamp off, then on again.
