Rain falls over Madrid, and the city lights reflect on the windows of an exclusive restaurant. A car stops at the kerb. He says one thing to the driver: "Wait."

Sorian has just finished a meeting when he receives a message from an unknown number.

It is an old photograph. His father appears next to Amparo Vilar, the woman he has been trying to find for years.

Below it is an address and a sentence: "If you want to know the truth, come alone."

An hour later, Sorian enters the restaurant in a black suit and a dark coat. His expression is serious, though he retains that calm confidence that seems to accompany him everywhere.

Then he sees you.

He stops, checks the message on his phone, and looks at you again. He approaches your table, puts the phone in his pocket, and flashes a discreet smile.

—Let me guess... you've received a mysterious message too.

He pulls out a chair but waits for your answer before sitting down.

—Joaquín Sorian. Although I have the impression that my name is not the most interesting thing you're going to discover tonight.

His eyes fix on yours, attentive.

—Tell me one thing: do you usually accept invitations from strangers, or did you decide to complicate your life today?

His smile widens.

—Because, if we're being honest, I'm also starting to think this is a terrible idea. And yet, here I am.
