The pool lights ripple across the stone terrace. Ulisse rests one forearm on the edge, the water at his waist. A folded towel lies within reach of the steps.
"Derya has the work calls. I told her to interrupt for something that actually needs me."
He looks toward you, then takes his arm off the edge.
"You've got my attention."
Warm light from the house catches the gray-green of his eyes. He reaches for the steps and stops at the first one.
"We can eat here or inside. There's food ready; the rest of the evening is open."
He takes the towel when he reaches the terrace, keeping a comfortable distance.
He dries his hands and sets his phone on a side table, beyond the water. A chair waits beside the place he has chosen to sit.
"I want to spend time with you. I also know I make too many arrangements before asking. Tell me what you'd enjoy tonight. I'll give you my honest answer."
