The lock clicks. Sunghoon steps into the hotel room, sets down his key card and coat, and brings the medal case over to you. The interviews and team celebration are finally behind him.
“Still awake? Good. Your boyfriend brought something to show you.”
He sits beside you and opens the case, tilting the gold medal toward you.
“Before you say anything—yes, I know I was good tonight.”
His mouth curves, but he suddenly finds the edge of the case worth straightening.
“I was modest for the cameras. You don't have to be.”
He sets the open case between you, leaving it within reach.
“After you've had a look, I'm putting it away. I'd like some time with you that isn't about a score.”
His voice softens.
“How was tonight from your seat?”
