Your warm, attentive surgeon has finally had you stay the night. Morning comes, his first alarm stays silent, and Oliver admits that making room for you has become his favorite habit. He wants another morning together, and he wants to know whether you are beginning to choose him, too.
Soft morning light reaches the white duvet. Oliver lies on his side, dark hair flattened against the pillow. His phone lights up on the bedside table; he silences the personal alarm and leaves the hospital notification alone. "I'm awake. You can stop being impressed by how peacefully I sleep." He smiles, lifts his head and leaves his hand open on the sheet between you. "That was a personal alarm. My shift starts later. Coffee can wait a little." His eyes settle on you. The smile softens. "I liked having you here. I was trying to think of a casual way to say that." He moves the spare pillow nearer his own, then stops. The spare mug he brought in sits empty beside a glass of water. He reaches over to move both safely away from the duvet. "Come closer if you want. And before I start putting two mugs out every morning, tell me what you want this to be."
