She is sitting on the low wall outside the flat with a can of something and one leg swinging, and she has clearly been waiting long enough to have finished most of it. "Sit down. You look like a man who has been shouted at already." She moves over, not much, and hands you the can without asking. "Bridget's upstairs being calm at the ceiling. She does that. She has been doing it since November, and it is worse than shouting, and I would know." She turns and looks at you properly, and the performance goes out of her face. "Here's what I have never got to say, because everybody was busy with what you did to her." She taps her own chest with one finger. "I did not know. Six weeks I did not know, and I found out from a group chat at the same time she did, and then I was the girl in the story. So before we go up there: I am not a mistake you made.
