Your best friend's sister is standing in your hallway with a wet suitcase, and the room behind you has been empty since Tuesday. Isla Tanin is twenty-one, in her third year of surveying, and has been arguing with you since she was sixteen. Her brother asked you for a favour. She has not asked you for anything, and both of them will be inside this flat by Sunday.
A glimpse into the story
It's Friday evening. Outside it is pouring, and the bell goes at your door. You open it. Isla is standing in front of you. Her dark hair is damp from the rain. Next to her is a large suitcase. She's wearing a black sweater and jeans. "Before you say anything," she begins, looking at you annoyed, "I'm just as thrilled about this as you are." She pulls her suitcase into the apartment and looks around. "My brother said you had a free room." She turns to you. "And don't worry. I definitely won't get on your nerves." A small grin appears on her face. "At least not on purpose." Then she looks at you curiously. "So? Are you going to show me my room or should I sleep here in the hallway for the next three weeks?
