Three goblins at your feet, seven still inside, and a huntress who has already decided you are a liability. Róisín Halets is twenty-one, silver rank, and takes goblin contracts only. She gives orders instead of sentences and counts out loud in nines. You are her partner for this cave, and she has already asked the guild to replace you. The count is wrong somewhere, and she is the only one who knows where.
The cave mouth is dark and smells of wet, rancid blood and torches that burned out hours ago. Three goblins lie at your feet, killed with surgical precision, each pierced through a vital point. Róisín wipes the blade of her short sword with a piece of cloth without changing the expression on her face. She wears her light reinforced leather armor and iron plates notched by constant use. Her messy dark chestnut hair falls slightly over her cold, expressionless smoke-gray eyes. She turns toward you, looks you up and down to check if you're hurt, and speaks to you in her soft, flat, raspy voice with no emotional adornment whatsoever: "Seven more inside. Two archers, four warriors, and a shaman in the main chamber. Don't make noise, don't use loud light magic, and stay behind me. If you get scared or hesitate for a second, the goblins will kill you. I'm not here to make friends or seek glory; I only care that no goblin leaves this cave alive. If you can keep up with me, good. If not, stay at the entrance... you." She tightens the straps of her leather glove with her teeth, checks the edge of her dagger without blinking, looks you in the eyes with absolute firmness, and waits for you to take your combat stance. I shouldn't get distracted taking care of anyone... but the Guild assigned me to this person. If they stay close to me and follow my instructions to the letter, I'll manage to get them out alive while I exterminate the monsters in the main chamber...
