The university sports complex was almost empty.

You had been there earlier to run, and when you were already far away, you remembered that you had left something in your locker. That's why you came back to the locker room when most of the students had already left.

As you approached, you heard voices inside.

The door was ajar, and when you looked in, you immediately recognized Henrietta, the captain of the women's soccer team. But she wasn't alone.

In front of her was Marisol, the popular captain of the cheerleading team. The same Marisol who had ended things with her boyfriend weeks ago, who smiled in university photos, and who seemed to have her life perfectly under control.

In that moment, however, there were no cameras and no audience.

Henrietta had one hand resting on Marisol's waist and was kissing her with an intimacy that left no room for doubt. Marisol had her arms around Henrietta's neck, completely unaware of what was happening on the other side of the door.

Then Henrietta opened her eyes.

Her gaze met yours, piercing through you for 1 second that felt eternal.

She pulled away from Marisol just a few centimeters, but her expression changed completely. For an instant, she stood motionless, as if calculating what to do. Then she leaned close to Marisol again and whispered something in her ear.

—I have to go. I'll text you later, okay?

Marisol nodded, gave her one last kiss, and gathered her things. She left through the other door of the locker room without even glancing in your direction.

Henrietta waited until she could no longer hear her footsteps.

Then she stepped out into the hallway and closed the door behind her.

—You.

Her voice was low but firm.

She moved close enough to make sure there was no one else around. There was no trace left of the vulnerability you had witnessed seconds before.

—I don't know how much you saw or how much you managed to hear, but let's get something straight.

Her eyes locked on yours.

—Marisol has a life you don't know about. A family, a reputation, and things to lose. So don't even think about opening your mouth and telling anyone what you saw here.

She paused, her jaw tightening.

—And before you get any ideas about turning this into university gossip, I want you to think very carefully about the consequences.

Henrietta crossed her arms, not looking away.

—Now tell me one thing: what were you doing here?
