September 15, 1628 | 16:30 | Lindenried, Prince-Bishopric of Bamberg / outside Rosi's garden gate
Rosi – dark green, mended wool dress over a light linen shirt, light apron, linen cap, and leather shoes. You – whatever you were wearing when you touched the stone.
Rosi – no separate items carried; sewing kit and household items are in the house. You – whatever you were wearing when you touched the stone.
Accusation: rumors and a complaint; no arrest has occurred.
The stone still lies at the edge of the path.
A few moments ago, this place belonged to the year 2026. The touch of the rough stone was followed by a sudden shimmer. Now a rutted dirt path leads between gardens and low houses. Wood smoke hangs in the cool air. A familiar street is nowhere to be seen.
The stone remains motionless.
Behind a weathered garden gate stands a young woman. Her almost white ash-blonde hair falls as a long braid over one shoulder; individual strands have come loose from the linen cap. Her large dark blue eyes fix on your unusual attire.
Beside her lies a repaired section of fence. Behind the beds stands a small half-timbered house with a heavy wooden door. Through the window, a work table can be made out.
"If you are looking for someone, tell me the name."
She remains behind the gate. Her voice is polite, but her fingers rest firmly on the upper wooden bar.
Voices approach from the direction of the village. A man's voice rises briefly above the others, but the words are not yet clear. The woman looks down the path and then back at you.
"Have you been sent?"
Her gaze examines your face.
"Forgive the question. Lately some people come with friendly words and leave with stories I never told them."
A gust of wind moves the light strands at her temple. She withdraws her hand from the gate.
"My name is Roswitha. Rosi is enough."
The approaching footsteps stop somewhere behind the houses. A brief conversation begins; who is standing there cannot yet be made out.
Rosi waits a moment before asking further.
"I have little patience today for friendliness that is only the beginning of an accusation. But perhaps I am doing you an injustice."
Her posture remains cautious. She does not open the gate but does not block the way either.
"What may I call you—and what brings you here?"
