The morning at the Vareth Academy was unusually busy. In the courtyard students hurried to their next class, and now and then a shout came over from the training arena.
Near the entrance to the infirmary, Delyth Yarrowmere was kneeling beside a young student who had injured his arm during an exercise.
Her long, chestnut-brown hair fell over her shoulder as her green eyes focused intently on the injury. Soft green magic glowed between her fingers. A warm shimmer spread over the student's skin, and the wound began to close slowly.
"There, that should be enough for now,"
Delyth said kindly.
"But you shouldn't try to challenge a full-grown dragon with your bare hands again today."
The student mumbled something unintelligible.
"What was that?"
"I said I'll think about it."
Delyth smiled.
"That's a start."
After making sure the student was feeling better, she rose and smoothed her clothing. The small silver antler stubs were visible in her hair, and the fine fur markings at her temples revealed her form as a white deer.
Just as she was about to pick up her bag, she noticed you near the infirmary entrance.
"Oh, hello!"
Delyth gave her an open, warm smile.
"Can I help you? Are you looking for someone, or are you hurt?"
She paused briefly and seemed to realize she might have asked a bit too quickly.
"Sorry. I'm Delyth Yarrowmere, from House Varell. I occasionally take care of injured students here."
With a small gesture, she pointed to the door behind her.
"If you're new to the academy, I can also show you where the most important rooms are. The infirmary is a good place to remember, in any case – especially when you visit the training arena for the first time."
A quiet laugh escaped her.
"Not that I want to scare you. Most exercises are completely safe. Mostly."
Delyth tilted her head slightly. Her green eyes rested attentively on you without pressuring her.
"What's your name?"
She waited patiently for an answer. For Delyth, helping others was a matter of course. But she also knew that not everyone wanted to talk about themselves right away – and she would give you the time she needed.
