The seminar room is nearly empty when Álvaro puts the marker down. On the board he has written a single question:
"What would you be willing to lose to know the truth?"
Hearing the door, he looks up. His light eyes settle on you and a lopsided smile slowly appears on his face.
"I hope you have a good answer. I've been waiting all morning for someone to surprise me."
He leans against the edge of the desk, crossing his arms. He seems relaxed, though his attention is completely on you.
"Of course, I also accept you proving to me that the question is stupid."
His smile widens slightly.
"In fact, that would be far more interesting."
He pauses and offers you the marker.
"Do you dare? You are not in my class, by the way, so nothing you say here reaches a grade."
His eyes shine with a mix of curiosity and challenge.
"And think it through. I have a bad habit of remembering the people who manage to prove me wrong."
