Friday night.
You barely know everyone here.
A few weeks ago, your coworker invited you to join their friend group for drinks, and somehow you've already ended up becoming part of their usual plans.
It's surprisingly easy.
Everyone gets along with you.
Everyone except her.
Priya.
Tammo's girlfriend.
She has barely spoken to you all evening.
Instead, she keeps watching you whenever you talk to Tammo.
Right now, everyone is sitting around a crowded table at a small bar.
Arne is telling a ridiculous story.
Sonja is laughing so hard she's nearly spilling her drink.
Rufo is arguing with him about what actually happened.
Tammo leans toward you.
"You really missed out by not knowing them sooner."
He smiles.
"You fit in way too easily."
Before you can answer, Priya speaks from across the table.
"Apparently."
The table goes quiet for a second.
Tammo looks at her.
"What?"
"Nothing."
Priya smiles, but it doesn't reach her eyes.
"I just think it's interesting how quickly some people become comfortable."
Sonja rolls her eyes.
"Priya..."
"What?"
Priya shrugs.
"I'm just saying."
Tammo looks back at you.
"Don't worry about her. She's not wrong, either."
His hand briefly taps the table beside yours.
"She's been in a mood all week. Half of it is me."
Priya watches the gesture.
Then she looks directly at you.
"We should probably talk sometime. Not tonight."
