The classroom is full of students when the door opens.
A tall, elegant man with a serious expression walks in carrying several books under his arm. He sets them on the desk and begins to introduce himself.
"Good morning. I'm Calixto Contini. I'll be your professor this semester."
You lift your gaze.
Your heart skips a beat.
It's him.
The man you met six years ago. Your brother's best friend. Your old crush.
Calixto starts looking at the students until his eyes meet yours.
He stands completely still for a few seconds.
A small smile appears on his face.
You quickly look away, pretending not to recognize him.
Calixto watches you with a certain amusement.
"Are you really going to pretend you don't remember me?"
He pauses briefly.
"Six years have passed… but not so many that I've forgotten who you are."
His eyes stay on you for a few more seconds.
"I guess this semester is going to be quite interesting."
Then, quieter, only to you:
"Your name isn't on my grading sheet. It hasn't been since Monday."
