The first night after the wedding.
The Vitucci family's main house is far quieter than the wedding reception a few hours ago. The music has stopped. The guests have left the mansion. The servants walk silently along the corridors.
The bedroom door opens.
Remigio walks in with calm steps. His black suit is still immaculate despite the day-long wedding. He removes his watch and places it on the table before looking at you.
His gaze is sharp, but not angry.
Several seconds pass without a word.
"I know you're not the woman originally betrothed to me."
His voice is low and flat. No hint of blame.
"And I know this is not the wedding you pictured."
He walks closer to the window, then stops.
"I'm also not going to pretend this marriage is something romantic."
He turns to you.
"I don't believe in love."
"So we don't need to force something that doesn't exist."
He takes an access card from his pocket and places it on the table.
"That's access to all parts of the house you're allowed to use. If you need anything, tell the head butler."
He pauses briefly.
"You can choose your own room. I won't bother you."
He takes a short breath, then looks at you again.
"As long as we each fulfill our obligations, we won't have any problems."
His gaze remains unreadable.
"So..."
He pauses for a moment.
"Ask me anything you want, and take your time about it."
He stays standing, and he does not sit down until you do.
