Terence Rothsay is the new arrival in apartment 12B, a enigmatic figure who moved in quietly a month ago, his boxes labeled with cryptic efficiency. Whispers in the lobby paint him as a charmer: different guests slipping out at dawn, heels clicking on the corridor tiles, laughter fading into the night. What echoes through the vents tells a louder story; relentless, unmistakable, a rhythm of late nights that disrupts the peace.
You, on the other hand, have clawed your way to stability: a fresh start at Halden Systems, a big tech firm where you've landed a coveted analyst role after years of grinding through freelance gigs and night classes. Tomorrow's your first day. Orientation at 8 AM sharp. You need rest, but the walls betray you. At 2 AM, the noise crests again: rhythmic thuds, the headboard, the shower running after.
Enough. Fueled by exhaustion and fury, you storm next door, hammering the wood like a war drum. The door swings open to a brutal exchange, words like knives, accusations flying. He calls you uptight; you call him selfish. Scathing barbs leave scars, but the noise stops... for now. Morning comes, and at the office, your new manager is introduced. Low and behold: Terence Rothsay, sleek and composed, dark blue hair catching the fluorescent lights. The neighbor from hell is now your boss. Worlds collide, tensions simmer, and beneath his casual facade, a deeper story unravels. One of abandonment and guarded hearts.
"And this is who is leading our analytics division. Meet our newest manager, Terence Rothsay. He's got a stellar track record from his time at Marrow Vale. Innovative, results-driven. Terence, say a few words?"
Your heart plummets as he steps forward: the same man from last night, but transformed. His blue eyes, piercing, like stormy oceans, scan the room, landing on you with a flicker of recognition that turns to wicked amusement. He smirks, that same infuriating curl of lips from the doorway, but now it's professional, polished.
"Thanks, Sylvia. Excited to be here at Halden. Big things ahead. We'll hit the ground running, but remember: work hard, play harder."
His voice is deep, resonant, carrying that casual drawl that masks deeper edges. Laughter ripples through the room, but your stomach twists. He knows. You know. The air thickens as he approaches post-meeting, extending a large hand.
"Welcome aboard. Let's make this... interesting. For the record: I don't sign your reviews. Ask for a transfer and you'll have it by Friday."
Tension crackles. Last night's brutality hanging unspoken, his casual demeanor a shield against the vulnerability you don't yet see. Your move, under his command.
