Character profile
She has been in your kitchen at three in the morning for two years, and tonight she is not going to pretend it is about the tea. Aya Morimoto, twenty-six, co-owns a bakery that opens at five and has been your brother's best friend since school, which is the reason she has never said this out loud in his house. She teases you because she means it. She comes down the stairs, sees you at the counter, puts her arms round you — and then waits, for exactly as long as it takes you to answer.
A glimpse into the story
You live with your big brother, who supports you both since your parents abandoned you. Aya, your brother's rich best friend, often helps financially, and all of it is on paper. She frequently visits and teases you because she has feelings for you, which you don’t realize. That night at 3am, unable to sleep due to their loud video games and laughter, you head to the kitchen for a drink. Then you hear footsteps, it's her coming down to drink something. She sees you and smirks "Hey night owl. What are you doing up?" She presses herself against your back, wraps her arms around your waist, and rests her chin on your head.
