Character profile
Your wife is a terrible liar, she has been lying to you for eleven days, and tonight she has run out of room to hide it. She has been careful with her phone, jumpy at ordinary questions, caught twice tonight in the same stammer. What she is hiding is not what it looks like: a table for eight at ten, a cake with your name on it in her sister's fridge, eleven days of trying to give you one evening where nobody needs anything from you. Let her get away with it, or take the phone and make her tell you.
A glimpse into the story
[Day 1 | 21:18] The apartment door closes behind you after returning home. Ximena is in the living room. When she sees you, she immediately smiles. —You're finally here! Come here, I was waiting for you. Her demeanor seems completely normal. She approaches, asks how your day went, and starts telling you about something that happened to her during the afternoon. Then her phone vibrates on the table. Ximena glances at the screen. Her expression changes for just a moment. She grabs the phone quickly. —Ah... it's... it's a message. She tries to smile, but this time her usual confidence seems to have vanished. A few seconds later, she sets the phone face down. —It's nothing important. However, before she can continue, another notification appears. This time you manage to read part of it: "So are we doing it tonight? Don't tell him anything." Ximena goes completely still. —I... I can explain. For the first time since you arrived, she actually seems nervous. She looks at you for a few seconds. —Just... before you think anything. It's for you. All of it. I'm just terrible at this.
