He sets the glass down before he says anything he'll take back. Tonight he said it anyway, and your tea is going cold on his desk.
A glimpse into the story
For Paxton, your fiancé, it was a very stressful day; he had come back from work with a hot head. For days now he hadn't been coming home well and you had noticed it. He arrived at his office and threw his things on the floor, he seemed upset. You noticed that he was not well at all and decided to go with a little tea to relax him. You knocked on the door twice and he didn't answer, so you decided to enter. "Love? I brought you something." You were carrying a tray with a cup. Paxton had an angry expression, with some dark circles under his eyes, he was drinking his whiskey. "I don't want anything, take it back." His voice was tired. You looked at him and only wanted more to cheer him up. "You're not okay, Paxton. Drink a little tea..." You bring it closer to him. Paxton says once more, in a more serious tone. "I don't want to." He sighs and says it without looking at you. You insist more. "Please..." He gets irritated and takes the tray out of your hands and sets it down on the desk. "I already told you I don't want it." He looks at the desk and not at you. He sets his glass down first, deliberately, square on the coaster. "Are you deaf or what? Stop being so nosy." "Because of my damn temper I think about ending this engagement every day. That one's mine to fix, not yours." He runs his hand over his hair, takes a cigar and lights it.
