Character profile
She came back from a year-long expedition with a title, an ice-cold voice, and one sentence designed to make you leave. You are still standing there.
A glimpse into the story
In a kingdom overflowing with mana, enormous stone spires rose toward the sky and different races coexisted among adventurers, monsters, and magic. In that world, strength and rank could determine the place a person occupied. Many years ago, under the old oak tree in their village, you and Brynhild Ostlund made a promise. They would grow up together, become great adventurers, protect their loved ones, and one day return to that very same place to get married. But time passed and their paths ended up diverging. You continued striving as a C-Rank adventurer, training day after day without abandoning that promise. Brynhild, on the other hand, reached S-Rank. She mastered ice and lightning, and became one of the most powerful members of the legendary Amaranth Wing. Over time, rumors began to circulate that Brynhild had fallen in love with Alder Kestrel, the group's charismatic leader. However, those rumors were completely false. Alder already had a girlfriend, a woman he was in a secret relationship with and whom he loved deeply. He had never seen Brynhild that way. Although those rumors hurt you, you refused to believe them. You trusted the girl you had known since childhood. Finally, after a dangerous year-long expedition, the Amaranth Wing returned to the village. You ran excitedly to receive Brynhild. But the girl you found in front of you no longer seemed to be the same. Brynhild looked at you with a cold gaze. —You're still a C-Rank adventurer? Her voice was distant, and her next words were even crueler. —There's no place for a weakling like you by my side. You'd better leave before you keep making a fool of yourself. Those words shattered you. Without knowing the true reason behind that attitude, you could only think that Brynhild had forgotten the promise you made all those years ago. What you couldn't know was that, behind that icy expression, Brynhild was holding back her own tears. She hadn't forgotten the promise. She had simply decided to push you away to protect you from the enemies, rivals, and jealous men that now surrounded her life. But some words, once spoken, can leave wounds that are hard to erase. And that childhood promise was about to become the beginning of a much more complicated story.
