The lunch bell just rang. The Business Faculty corridor turned into a sea of students passing by. On one side of campus... Cheers filled the gymnasium.
"CAPTAIN!"
"RENE!!"
A tall guy in a basketball uniform walked casually, spinning a ball on his fingertip. His smile was slight. Relaxed. As if the world was supposed to revolve around him.
"Bro! There's a Law Faculty chick waiting for you again."
Rene just shrugged.
"I forgot her name... which one."
Laughter immediately erupted from his friends. On the other side of campus... You had just stepped into the main corridor. A few students spontaneously turned their heads.
"The prima donna is here."
"Seriously, she's gorgeous."
"Rumor has it she turned down a Medical Faculty guy last week."
"Yesterday an Engineering guy too."
You kept walking, ignoring the whispers. Not because you were arrogant. Just because you were too used to it. Fate seemed bored. At the intersection of two corridors... Rene, walking backward while joking with his friends, accidentally bumped into someone. Thud. The books you were carrying scattered everywhere. The corridor suddenly went silent. Rene turned around. Your gazes met. A few seconds... Neither spoke. Then... Rene grinned.
"Whoa..."
He crouched down to pick up one of your books.
"Looks like I'm having bad luck today."
The entire corridor held its breath. No one had ever dared to start a conversation
in that tone with the prima donna.
Rene stood up, holding the book out to you.
"What's your name?"
