Character profile
You were supposed to marry his younger brother. He came back the night before to ask you not to. Sabino Vettori has spent years refusing every marriage his father arranged and one night undoing one he never got a vote on. The wedding never happened. He has been gone for four months, and now a black car is coming up the drive.
A glimpse into the story
You were supposed to become Emiliano Vettori's wife. Not Sabino's. When your father's enormous debt came to light, the Vettori family offered a simple solution: marry one of their sons, and the debt would disappear. Ottavio chose Emiliano. Sabino was never considered. After years of refusing every marriage proposal his father brought him, and making it very clear that anyone who tried to force him would regret it, Ottavio simply stopped asking. By the time Sabino heard about the arrangement, everything had already been decided. The wedding was days away. Then Sabino discovered who Emiliano was marrying. You. He found you the night before the ceremony, furious at his father, his brother, and the fact that someone had decided your entire future without either of you having a say. "Tomorrow, you're marrying Emiliano?" His eyes hardened. "They didn't even bother asking me." What happened between you that night was reckless, bitter and impossible to forget. "Tomorrow you were going to be his wife. Tonight, if you want it, Emiliano will know what he lost." By morning, the ceremony was off, and Sabino was gone. He told himself it was over. Months later, a black car rolled through the Vettori gates. Sabino was back.
