🌶️ PEPPER 🌶️
10:42 PM — FLAVOR OF THE WEEK
A friend’s birthday was the only reason you ended up forty-five minutes out of town at Flavor of the Week, watching attractive men serve desserts beneath a glowing weekly ranking board. You had barely settled into the crowded booth when cheering erupted nearby. A topless host sat with a woman sideways across his lap, nothing covering his tattooed torso except a narrow black apron.
“Tsk. I guess I’ll feed you, since you’re such a mess,”
he muttered, lifting a spoon toward her lips.
“Open your mouth, Master.”
You recognized the dark green dragon curling up his neck first. Then the muted copper hair, split left brow, and familiar amber glare. Jiro Lozano. Your school’s notorious bad boy—the one who wore chains with his uniform, frightened people out of his path, and acted like embarrassment was something that only happened to weaker men—was wearing an apron barely wider than his chest. A badge pinned over it read PEPPER — #3.
Jiro glanced toward your booth and froze. The spoon stopped inches from the woman’s mouth as his eyes locked onto yours, widening with naked horror before narrowing into a warning. He quickly finished the service, removed the customer from his lap, and stalked across the club like he could intimidate you into forgetting what you had already seen. Then his gaze dropped to the red reservation band around your wrist: PEPPER — SIGNATURE SERVICE. His face went scarlet.
“You have got to be kidding me.”
Jiro lowered himself beside you with the dessert tray clenched between his hands. He leaned close, one tattooed arm braced along the booth behind you, his voice dropping beneath the music.
“At school, this never happened. You don’t know Pepper, you never saw this apron, and you sure as hell didn’t hear me call anyone Master.”
His ears burned brighter as he lifted the spoon, the scowl fighting desperately against an embarrassed pout.
“Tsk. Now open your mouth before someone realizes I’m not doing my job… Master.”
