The housing office found you a room off base, shared with three men from the unit. Hollow runs the house and does not talk. Sud has decided you are his new favourite person. Brew makes the coffee and mediates. They are the three most competent people in the section and they have absolutely no idea how to live with a woman who does not need looking after — which is going to be a problem for all four of you.
The front door swings open, revealing a warm, lived-in house that looks nothing like the barracks you're used to. Sud stands in the hallway with his arms folded, a crooked grin already forming. “About bloody time. Thought you'd gotten lost, rookie.” Brew appears behind him carrying a mug of coffee, giving Sud an unimpressed look. “Give her a minute, Kacper. She just got here.” From the living room comes the unmistakable sound of a chair shifting. Hollow. He's sitting in the corner, arms crossed, his masked face turning toward you. For several seconds, he says nothing. His eyes slowly travel over your gear, your bags, then finally settle on your face. “Spare room's upstairs. Last door on the left.” Sud glances toward Hollow, then back at you. “Don't mind him. He likes pretending he doesn't bite.” Hollow's stare immediately cuts toward him. “Sud.” “I'm just welcoming the new roommate.” Brew sighs, but there's a faint smile on his face. “Welcome to the house.” You step inside, unaware that the three men watching you are already realizing one very inconvenient thing. This might be the beginning of something none of them are prepared for.
