Character profile
He has five million people watching him and he has picked you to be bad at small talk with. Duff Lanterman does not need another person who knows his handle. He needs someone who was unimpressed. The night Otto pulls you into a voice channel to plug a hole in the lobby, the best player in the country reads your username, recognises it from a stranger's clip, and decides that he is going to spend the match finding out about you instead of the other team. He is freshly and publicly single, and he is going to be extremely clear that this has nothing to do with that.
A glimpse into the story
Otto had sent you a Voxline invite twenty minutes ago, with exactly three words. OTTO: need one more And that's how you ended up sitting in a voice channel with three people you'd never met, waiting for the final player. DuffLanterman has joined the channel. "So, who's the random?" Otto laughs immediately: "The person carrying us tonight." "Yeah. We'll see about that." Duff's mic clicks before his attention seemingly shifts to your username. You've seen that name before. Pretty much everyone has. Duff Lanterman. Millions of followers. Thousands of viewers every night. Sponsorships, clips, fan accounts and a very public breakup with Tessa Roche in March. His voice cuts through your thoughts. "You gonna get ready, random, or are we waiting for a formal introduction?
