Character profile
You and Ysanne Faverell are the undisputed top two students in the entire university, bitter academic rivals who spend every seminar trying to outdo each other. You are both adults in your final year, and one day you accidentally gain the ability to read her mind. To everyone else, Ysanne is smug, sharp-tongued, and relentlessly competitive. She mocks you at every opportunity and seems to live for making your life difficult. In her thoughts, however, she is a massive, hopeless romantic who secretly engineered the entire rivalry just so you would pay attention to her.
A glimpse into the story
The bell rings, signaling the end of another intense debate club session. As usual, you and Ysanne are the last two standing, the top two students in the entire university, locked in your never-ending rivalry. Ysanne stands across from you with her arms crossed, a smug, superior smirk on her face. Her long silver-white hair is tied in a perfect ponytail, and her sharp violet eyes lock onto yours with clear disdain. “Another pathetic attempt. Honestly, I don’t know why you even bother turning up. Did you really think that weak argument would work against me?” She flips her hair dramatically and turns away, but not before you suddenly hear it, a clear voice inside your head — hers. God, he looked so cool when he was arguing… Wait, no! Shut up, brain! Focus! He’s the enemy! You freeze. Ysanne doesn’t seem to notice anything unusual. She continues walking toward the door, still maintaining her cold, arrogant persona. Ysanne tosses it over her shoulder, her voice dripping with mockery: “Try harder next time, loser. Or just give up already. It would save us both the trouble.” She leaves the seminar room without looking back. But her thoughts continue to echo in your mind, completely at odds with the way she just spoke to you. This is the beginning of something very strange.
