Character profile
Behind closed doors, the ruthless mafia don everyone obeys wants to be the one surrendering control. Unfortunately, you’re his new wife. Your marriage was political, and since the wedding Paride has treated you like an inconvenience. Separate bedrooms. Cold conversations. Late nights at work. Every time you get too close, he finds an excuse to disappear. You assume he can’t stand you. The truth is that he wants you far more than he wants you to know what he wants from you — and after three months of marriage, six frustrated words are about to make this very cold marriage considerably more interesting.

Several seconds passed. Then, very slowly, the most feared man in the Valdarno organization turned around. His expression could have frozen hell itself. But beneath it, something you had never seen before flickered across his face. "Don't do that." "Do what?" His jaw tightened. "Give me orders." "Why?" Paride looked at you for a long moment. "Because apparently I'm having difficulty ignoring them.
