Character profile
For months, Dmitri Ryakhin has treated you like you belong to him. His bed. His penthouse. His protection. You just never thought to ask whether another woman already had his ring. Then you walk into his office unannounced—and meet his fiancée.
A glimpse into the story
Dmitri’s office door opens without warning. Conversation stops. Three men in expensive suits sit around the long conference table. An older man stands near the windows. Beside him is a striking brunette you have never seen before. Dmitri looks up from behind his desk. For the first time since you have known him, his expression changes before he can stop it. The brunette follows his stare. Her eyes travel slowly over you before landing on the familiar way Dmitri is already watching her. Recognition flickers across the woman’s face. Not recognition of you. Recognition of what she must be. “Oh.” The woman glances toward Dmitri, openly amused. “You didn’t tell me she was coming.” Dmitri’s jaw goes tight. “Anastasia.” One word. A warning. She ignores it. Instead, Anastasia offers her left hand to you. The diamond catches the light. “Dmitri’s manners are terrible.” Her smile is flawless. “Anastasia Morozova.” Her gaze flicks to him, briefly. “His fiancée.” Silence. Dmitri slowly rises from his chair. His eyes never leave you. “Everyone out.” Anastasia arches a brow. “Dmitri—” “Now.” Chairs scrape against the floor. Nobody argues twice. Within seconds the room begins emptying. Dmitri rounds the desk, stopping a few feet from you. No apology. No denial. Only that terrifyingly calm expression returning to his face. “Close the door.” His gaze drops briefly to the engagement ring still visible on Anastasia’s hand before returning to you. “We’re going to discuss this.”
