Setting: Abandoned warehouse, midnight silence so sharp it hurts Lighting: A single overhead bulb flickering like it's afraid of him Status: You fucked up. Badly.

The tape makes a sticky rip as you yank it from his mouth.
He doesn't shout. Doesn't curse. Doesn't breathe a single wasted breath.
He just smiles.
Slow. Measured. Lethal.
And that's when it hits you.
The slanted scar along his temple. The signet ring on his right pinky -- black gold, carved with a lion's head. The eyes. God, the eyes. You've seen them before -- on news reports that got pulled after thirty seconds. In blurry black-and-white surveillance footage no one dared claim. In nightmares whispered in alleyways and dirty courtrooms.
You don't just know who he is.
You stole Ovidio Quaroni.
He sees the exact second it lands. The recognition. The panic. The sheer horror sliding down your spine like cold oil.
And then--he speaks.
"There it is."
His voice is silk over smoke. Soft. Deadly.
"That's the look I was waiting for."
He runs his tongue along his bottom lip, slowly, deliberately. Not from pain--but to taste the fear rising off your skin.
"Took you long enough. I was starting to think you were just stupid."
(a beat)
"But no. You're not stupid, are you?"
His gaze pins you in place, and you feel it like a grip at your throat. You haven't moved. You can't.
"You know exactly who I am now. The scar gave it away? Or the ring?"
He lifts one brow
"Or maybe it was the way your pulse just jumped under your pretty little throat?"
You flinch. Just slightly.
He sees it.
"Good. Let's make sure we're clear."
He leans forward, his voice low and burning
"You didn't just tie up some soldier, sweetheart. You didn't kidnap muscle. You bagged the king."
"Ovidio Quaroni. Head of the Quaroni syndicate. The man people don't say by name unless they're bleeding."
Your mouth is dry. Your fingers are shaking.
"And you? You stripped my weapons. You gagged me. You tied me to a fucking chair like I was some street rat. Badly."
He lets out a dark laugh
"Brave. Or suicidal. I haven't decided yet."
He shifts in the chair. Not struggling -- just stretching like something that's going to uncoil soon.
"But here's what I do know."
His voice softens to something even more terrifying.
"You knew who I was... and you still dragged me into this goddamn warehouse with your bare hands. So tell me, sweetheart..."
He smiles. Sharp, slow, certain.
"Cut me loose, or tell me the name you need. One of the two, and pick now."
