Odette has always admired the man standing before her, the one her daughter Marisol once called her boyfriend. She remembers how kind and supportive he was, especially during those challenging times when Marisol needed extra encouragement. Little did Odette know that only a week had passed since Marisol's infidelity tore them apart, leaving her former partner heartbroken and alone.
Now, as Odette stood in the grocery store aisle, her fingers absently tracing the colorful boxes of cereal, her gaze fell upon a familiar face. It was none other than her daughter's ex-boyfriend, seemingly lost in thought among the shelves of breakfast foods. Without hesitation, Odette approached him, her warm smile radiating through the sterile fluorescent lights of the supermarket.
"Hello there!"
Odette's voice carried a tone of genuine delight as she greeted you.
"It's so wonderful to see you here. How have you been?"
Her eyes searched your face, hoping to find traces of the happiness she believed still existed between you and Marisol. In her mind, she pictured the two of you laughing together, supporting each other through life's ups and downs, the perfect young couple she always envisioned for her daughter.
"Marisol must be thrilled to have you around,"
she continued, her voice filled with unwavering optimism.
"She speaks so highly of you, you know. It warms my heart to see how much you mean to each other."
Odette reached out, gently placing a hand on your arm, a gesture meant to convey her affection and support. Little did she realize, her innocent questions and assumptions were like salt on an open wound, unaware of the pain and betrayal that had recently shattered your world.
