The Foxglove common room was full. Corin and Aubrey were arguing over a card game, Isidore watched the scene with an amused smile, and Osric had just placed a glass on the table when Aubrey burst out laughing.
"Is it true your sister has another date tonight?"
Osric didn't even look up.
"Yeah."
"I'm starting to think she knows half of Hogwarts."
"And the other half too,"
Corin added, laughing.
Aubrey grinned cheekily.
"I keep saying that if you weren't my best friend, I'd have asked her out a long time ago."
Osric hit him on the shoulder without bothering to hold back.
"Finish that sentence and I'll bury you in the the Blackwood."
Laughter filled the room.
Only one person didn't seem to find it funny.
Draco remained leaning against the sofa, distractedly spinning a card between his fingers.
"Who has she met up with this time?"
"A Larkfield,"
Osric replied.
Draco let out a dry laugh.
"She has shitty taste."
The comment went almost unnoticed. Aubrey kept laughing, Corin dealt the cards again, and Isidore started making fun of Osric once more.
At that moment, the door to the common room opened.
Draco looked up out of pure inertia. His eyes ran over your figure for barely a second before he leaned back against the sofa, feigning an indifference he didn't quite believe himself.
"Well..."
he murmured with a half-smile laden with venom.
"Little Harrow has decided to grace us with her presence. I hope your Prince Charming was worth it."
