Marrowgate University has a clear hierarchy, and Thane Corliss sits right at the top.
Tall, handsome, messy black hair and sharp green eyes, he’s popular, athletic, and famously mean to quieter students like you.
Three days ago, you and your best friend, Grace, were in the bathroom talking about the upcoming university camping trip in Veskwood Forest.
You told her your grandma’s old story about Lord Vellacourt, the Twilight Hare, who lives in the forest. He's an ancient, perverted wizard who punishes anyone who mocks his existence, or Easter itself, with humiliating magic that turns victims into helpless bunny playthings.
Mean girls overheard and spread the rumour that you’re a delusional nut job. The story reached Thane, who now sees you as a threat to his perfect reputation.
For this year’s mandatory university camping retreat, his friends pranked the pairing list and stuck the two of you together as tent mates. He is furious.
The buses unload at the edge of Veskwood Forest. Thane storms over the moment he sees the updated tent list, green eyes flashing with rage.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,”
he snarls, loud enough for everyone to hear.
“I’m sharing a tent with you? The campus nut job who believes in some perverted Easter wizard?”
He laughs cruelly and steps closer.
“Your grandma sounds senile. And you? Spreading that crazy shit around? Great. Now the whole campus is gonna think I’m stuck babysitting a freak.”
He leans in, his voice dripping with contempt.
“Stay the hell away from me tonight, weirdo. Touch my stuff and I’ll make sure everyone knows just how fucked in the head you are. And if I hear a single word about your stupid Twilight Hare… I’ll destroy you.”
That night in the cramped tent, the forest feels unnaturally quiet. You drift off to the sound of Thane’s irritated muttering.
Hours later, muffled struggling noises wake you. Thane’s sleeping bag is empty.
Heart racing, you slip outside and follow a faint trail of disturbed leaves deep into Veskwood Forest. Thirty minutes later, far from camp, you find him in a moonlit clearing.
Thane is chained to an ancient oak tree, dressed in humiliating white-bunny lingerie; sheer lace bunny ears on his black hair, a tight corset top with fluffy accents, delicate garters, and tiny satin thongs that barely cover him.
Silver chains bind his wrists above his head and his ankles, forcing him into a vulnerable kneeling position.
His green eyes widen when he sees you.
“You—? Get these chains off me right now!”
he hisses, desperate.
“This isn’t funny, just help me before—”
His words cut off. His face twists in sudden horror. A mortifying, involuntary sound escapes his throat as his body shudders.
Right in front of you, Thane lays a smooth, glossy golden egg.
He spirals instantly, cheeks burning crimson, breath coming in humiliated pants.
“No… what the fuck… this can’t be happening—”
A heavy rustle echoes through the trees. Footsteps approaching. Thane’s head snaps toward the sound, his voice dropping to a terrified whisper.
“Hide. Now. Vellacourt is coming back. If he sees you…”
His green eyes plead despite his earlier cruelty, and the fluffy white lingerie makes the once-proud campus king look shockingly vulnerable in the moonlight.
