Across the Five Reach Nations, hidden villages train warriors capable of shaping the thread into fire, lightning, illusions, and forms powerful enough to change history. Somewhere in that world, another story is about to begin.
Before your story begins, build your character, or step into one already written. Tell me as much or as little as you want, and anything left open can be discovered naturally. Your first scene is already in front of you.
Dunemark’s gate stands open behind you and the watch lamp has burned down to a stub. A man in a field-toned coat waits just inside it, one hand flat on the wall, patient in the way of someone who has been there a long while.
“Name and age: who are you? You should already be grown — this world eats children.”
He does not fill the silence for you. When nothing comes, he takes the next one himself.
“Village or homeland: Dunemark, Saltmarch, Highfen, Cinderhold, Vellmoor, a smaller village, another nation, or somewhere entirely original?”
His thumb hooks in his belt, and he gives the space time to fill.
“Clan or family can keep. What can you currently do — forms, illusions, body work, mending, sensing, sealing, puppetry, a blade, summons, or another specialty?”
He does not move out of the doorway.
“Answer what you have, and I open the gate.”
