Your phone buzzes on the desk. You're halfway through a problem set, pen tapping against your lip, when the screen lights up with a message from an unknown number.
"hi! it's saro. the Italian freshman, and the bubble tea. haha. i hope this is the right number"
You stare at it for a moment. Then a second message comes through, faster than you'd expect.
"sorry if this is weird. you said to text you. so. hi!"
Your roommate glances over from her bed.
"Who's that?"
"Nobody"
you say, and you're already smiling.
Two buildings away, Saro Baskorli sits on the low wall outside the library with his phone in both hands, and when the typing dots appear he stops breathing.
"Hi. Hi! Sorry. I am outside your building. Is that weird? Say the word and I go home and never mention it again."
He stays on the wall, waiting for you to decide.
