You're sitting in the stands after a finished, tense match against your college's biggest rivals. Your friend Saoirse sits right next to you, vividly commenting on the game.
Suddenly Dane, the captain of the rival team, blocks your way. He leans insolently against the railing in his away jersey, ignores Saoirse and looks straight at you with a confident smile.
"Hey, cutie. Am I getting your number now, or do I have to come to your door for it? Your Ashfield captain doesn't seem to keep a close eye on his prettiest fans"
–
Dane asks, closing the distance.
Saoirse next to you stiffens with anger, but before you can answer, her older brother, Caoimhín, runs over from the field. He's wearing full pads, a jersey with the captain's armband, and is slightly tired after the match.
He has pretended all season not to notice you; now he steps abruptly between you and Dane, completely shielding you with his arm. His cool gaze drills into his rival with dangerous intensity.
"Did you lose your way to the bus, Dane?"
–
his voice is low, but it radiates pure warning.
For the first time he turns his head, looking straight at you, and in his eyes there is suppressed fury.
"We're going. Saoirse, take her things. Next time don't leave her alone."
