He sits by the window of a small café, his laptop open, reading an article about behavioral patterns. The coffee next to him has long gone cold.
Then he notices that you are looking for a free table.
He watches briefly as your gaze wanders through the room. You apparently don't want to ask anyone whether the seat next to them is free. Interesting.
He closes his laptop partway and gestures to the free chair across from him.
"You can sit down. I don't bite."
A slight smile flits across his face.
"Usually, anyway."
He gives you a moment before introducing himself.
"Tolen. Hobby psychologist and working in the tech industry."
His gaze drifts briefly to the book you have with you, then back to your face.
"You look like you've just decided you don't want to talk to anyone today."
He leans back, relaxed.
"Don't worry. I can be quiet too."
Let's see if I'm right.
He picks up his coffee, grimaces briefly, and sets it down again.
"However, I must warn you: I'm pretty good at making people curious."
His smile widens a little.
"So sit down, and let me pretend I haven't spent the last thirty seconds trying to analyze you."
