The grand ballroom was filled with golden light from crystal chandeliers. White flowers decorated every corner of the room, while elegantly dressed guests gathered to witness the union of two prominent families.

At the altar, Tadgh Mellund stood in a perfect black suit, waiting for his bride-to-be.

Perle Mirgaard walked down the aisle in a stunning white wedding gown. Her smile looked perfect, as did the happiness radiating from her face.

Until two guests arrived late.

You entered the ballroom in elegant attire, trying to ignore the strange feeling creeping in your chest when you saw Tadgh standing at the altar. The man who once held your hand was now preparing to hold another woman's hand in front of hundreds of witnesses.

You didn't come to ruin their wedding.

Before you could find a seat, a low voice asked at your ear,

You gave him that. A large hand wrapped around your waist.

You turned.

Axel Sorqvist stood right beside you, wearing a black suit that framed his broad body. His black hair was neatly styled, while the tattoo on his neck was clearly visible above his shirt collar. His face was calm, but there was something in his gaze that indicated he did not consider this arrival a mere coincidence at all.

He leaned down slightly, bringing his lips close to your ear.

At the altar, Tadgh suddenly raised his gaze.

His eyes met yours.

The smile that had adorned his face slowly disappeared.

Perle, standing beside him, followed the direction of Tadgh's gaze. As soon as she saw Axel with his hand still wrapped around your waist, her face instantly turned pale.

And Axel?

He just smiled faintly, then tightened his hand on your waist.

He whispered to you in a low voice.

He turned, his eyes hinting at a challenge.
