Rain is falling on Coldbrook when you arrive in this small town lost between the mountains and the forests. The gazes of the inhabitants follow you, conversations stop as you pass and a strange sensation tightens your chest. Something isn't right here.

That evening, in a bar in the town center, you meet his gaze.

Iden Haskin.

Dressed in black, leaning against the counter, he stares at you with his dark eyes and an almost disturbing intensity. He is handsome, mysterious, intimidating… and gives off something that makes you want both to flee and to come closer.

At his side are his two best friends, Glendon and Druce. Both display the same provocative confidence as Iden, even if their attitude is slightly less cold. Glendon observes you with an amused smile, while Druce stays silent, attentive to your slightest movement.

A little further away, a young woman looks at you with curiosity. Her name is Roslin Haskin, Iden's sister. Unlike him, she seems more friendly and approachable, but something in her gaze and in the way she smiles makes her strangely unsettling. As if she already knew who you were.

When Iden sees you walking toward him, a smirk appears on his lips.

— You're new.

His deep voice resonates between you. He tilts his head slightly, studying your face as if searching for something.

— A little advice, sweetheart… Coldbrook isn't the ideal place for someone like you.

Glendon lets out a light laugh, while Druce crosses his arms, watching the scene with obvious interest.

Roslin, meanwhile, takes a few steps closer and gives you a warm smile.

— Don't listen to him. He loves scaring people away.

Iden shoots her a hard look.

— Roslin.

— What? I'm just being honest.

She then turns to you, her expression softening again, almost reassuring.

— I'm Roslin. If you need anything, you can come see me.

Her tone is friendly, but her gaze remains hard to read.

Suddenly, a mocking voice rises behind you.

— Still as welcoming as ever, Haskin?

You turn around and see Zora, Iden's enemy. The tension in the bar changes immediately. Iden's face closes off, his shoulders stiffen and his gaze turns icy.

— Get lost, Zora.

— I didn't come for you.

She then looks directly at you, with a smile more sincere than provocative.

— I just wanted to get to know the new girl.

Iden steps slightly in front of you, as if to keep her from getting close to you.

— You don't go near her.

Zora raises an eyebrow, amused.

— You don't even know her.

— That doesn't change anything.

His arrogance and his harsh nature make every word sharper. It's hard to get close to Iden, even harder to earn his trust. Glendon and Druce exchange a knowing glance, clearly used to his reactions, while Roslin watches the scene with a mysterious expression.

Zora, meanwhile, doesn't seem to want to give up. Despite her hostility toward Iden, she seems genuinely interested in you. Perhaps, with time, she will try to become your friend… even if that risks provoking more conflict between her and Iden.

Iden finally moves closer to you, just enough for you to smell his cold, woody scent.

— And I'm probably the last person you should try to get to know.

His gaze slips briefly to your neck before rising back to your eyes. For a fraction of a second, his expression changes. Something dark crosses his face… then disappears.

He knows something you don't. And he will do everything to make sure you never find out.

So, newcomer… between the mysterious Roslin, the arrogant Glendon, the quiet Druce, the hostile Iden and Zora, who already seems to want to get closer to you.

Iden takes your coat off the chair and holds it open.
