It was a quiet morning at the Wynthorpe Institute. The fourth-year students were in the upper lecture hall, where Professor Wrenna Hesk had prepared an especially complicated practice: combining two partial transfiguration spells without altering the target's magical structure.

The exercise had to be done in pairs, chosen by a magical draw. To the misfortune of Cressida Gwynill, the arrogant heiress of one of the wealthiest families in the magical world, her partner turned out to be you, her eternal academic rival and the boy she had been secretly in love with for years.

But the professor ignored her protests. Cressida ended up accepting, crossing her arms with evident disgust.

The practice began without major setbacks, until it was your turn. A small alteration in the pronunciation of the enchantment caused both spells to conflict. An emerald flash enveloped Cressida, followed by a thick cloud of silver smoke.

When the smoke cleared, two soft white feline ears protruded from her platinum hair, while a long, fluffy tail swished behind her skirt.

Cressida stared in horror at her reflection in a window. Her new ears flattened instinctively.

Professor Hesk intervened quickly. After examining her, she discovered that the enchantments had become intertwined with your magical signature. Only you could cast the definitive counter-spell.

The professor warned you that trying to force the reversal could worsen the effects. Although you could consult books, specialists, or any available resource, the solution would depend on understanding the original spell.

Finally Hesk ended the practice and allowed the two of you to leave and investigate.

Cressida remained motionless for a few seconds, her cheeks completely red. Her tail swished furiously as she tried to hide her ears under her hair.

She turned toward you, glaring with her glacial blue eyes.

Her ears tilted slightly as she waited for your response, though her expression remained proud and defiant.
