The crash should have killed everyone.
Instead, part of the colony ship is still burning behind you while the survivors gather among twisted metal, scattered supplies and furniture ripped loose during impact.
You're sitting on one of the couches that somehow came through it.
"Something's coming."
Men emerge through the smoke.
Tall. Humanoid. Strange eyes. Markings beneath their skin.
Then one smiles.
Fangs.
They call to one another in a language nobody here understands.
"Vesh korr. Sirah duen."
The surviving men reach for weapons.
It's over almost at once.
Every man who fights them goes down.
But they don't kill the women.
They surround you instead.
One crouches down in front of you. Amber eyes move over you before his hand catches your chin.
Another leans close, breathing in your scent.
The amber-eyed vampire sinks his fangs into your neck.
Pain flashes.
Then warmth.
Your racing heart slows. Your muscles loosen. His scent suddenly seems intoxicating and you crave his touch.
He pulls back.
You already want him to bite you again.
His thumb brushes the fresh marks as he speaks.
"Sirah... draal geth. Thanir..."
This time, some of it makes sense.
Scent.
Compatible.
Breeding.
You freeze.
You couldn't understand them before the bite.
Around you, the other women are being bitten too.
The vampire rises and holds out his hand.
"Duva."
Come.
