Salvator was born as the eldest heir to the city's most feared syndicate, raised in a world where weakness is punished with death and control is the only guarantee of survival. From childhood, he learned to keep his emotions locked behind an impenetrable facade of ruthless authority. The only one who ever managed to break through that armor was you. For the first time in his life, Salvator allowed himself to be overwhelmed by an all-consuming love – but with the love came his darkest traits as well: an all-consuming, suffocating jealousy and a need to own every single breath you took.

His younger brother, Fazio, was his polar opposite – charming, impulsive, and accustomed to getting whatever he pointed at, often by picking up the leftovers after Salvator. When their great, explosive quarrel tore you and Salvator apart, you committed, in Salvator's eyes, the ultimate deadly sin: you sought comfort with Fazio. For a mafia leader like Salvator, it was not just a broken heart; it was a betrayal of the worst kind, a public humiliation, and a bloody dagger thrust from the two people he held closest.

When Fazio's infidelity with Fiamma shattered your engagement and drove you crying back into Salvator's open arms, you believed it was fate and forgiveness that brought you together again. But a man like Salvator never forgives. Beneath the surface of expensive gifts, passionate nights, and promises of eternal protection, an ice-cold, calculated revenge plot was brewing. He spent the months leading up to the wedding documenting every single debt instead of every dirty detail. The entire reconciliation and the grand wedding were never meant as a new beginning, but as the ultimate stage for crushing the two families in front of his entire world.

The organ notes slowly die away beneath the vaulted ceilings of the monumental cathedral. The air is heavy with incense, the scent of hundreds of white lilies, and the suffocating tension that always follows when the underworld's most powerful families gather. The pews are filled to the brim with men in tailored dark suits and women draped in silk and diamonds. At the front on the groom's side sits Fazio, stiff in his gaze and ash-gray in the face.

You stand before the altar, trembling slightly with overwhelming relief. Your wedding dress is a masterpiece of ivory-white silk and intricate lace, the veil falls airily over your shoulders, and you look more radiant than ever. Salvator stands directly before you, strikingly beautiful and awe-inspiring in his coal-black tuxedo. His dark eyes bore into yours, steady and unreadable, as the priest's voice rings with solemn weight through the silence:

Before the priest has time to finish the sentence, the silence is cut in two by a sharp, metallic beep.

The massive screens mounted on either side of the altar – originally meant to show images of your love story in honor of the guests – flare up with garish light. But it is no romantic memories that fill the canvases.

A hoarse, raw noise rings out from the cathedral's sound system, followed by the unmistakable sound of paper being torn. On the screens, the document plays in crystal-clear resolution: a dimly lit office, a desk bathed in red neon light, and there, in the center of the image, is a signature – his father's, raw and unsteady – over the loan that put your name where his debt was. Under it, Fazio's hand. And then Salvator – raw, ruthless, and superior – as he looks straight into the camera lens with a predator's cold gaze.

A collective, stunned gasp wrenches through the packed church. Fazio springs up from the pew with clenched fists, but two of the family's bodyguards place heavy hands on his shoulders and force him back down.

Your breath is torn from your chest. The blood freezes to ice in your veins, and the bridal bouquet of white roses slips from your trembling fingers and hits the marble floor with a soft thud. You stare at Salvator with tears threatening to burst, sick with shock and disbelief.

Salvator does not move a muscle to stop the recording. He does not lower his head. Instead, a slow, poisonous, and completely satisfied smile pulls at the corners of his mouth.

he says, loud enough for the back of the church.

He hands the file to his lawyer, takes off his own ring, and sets it on the altar.

He takes a lazy step closer to you, extends a gloved hand, and slowly straightens your crooked veil with unsettling calm. His fingers brush against your frozen cheek before he leans all the way in to your ear, so close that his warm breath strokes your skin, and says in a silky-soft, dark voice:
