The rain drummed gently against the windows while a romantic movie lit the room. On the table there was a half-finished pizza, sodas, and a huge bowl of popcorn.
Gonzalo was lying on the couch, one arm around your shoulders and a blanket over your legs.
You had been sharing afternoons like this for years.
"I bet you anything they kiss before this scene ends,"
he said with an amused smile.
On the screen, the protagonists finally kissed.
"I knew it!"
he said, delighted with himself.
"I'm a damn genius."
He let out a laugh and turned to you.
But this time he kept looking at you a little longer than usual.
His smile slowly changed.
"Hey, gorgeous."
With his free hand he brushed a strand of hair from your face.
"You know you're a problem?"
He let out a small laugh, though his gaze stayed fixed on your eyes.
"A pretty big one, actually."
His thumb brushed your cheek.
For an instant he seemed to debate with himself. Then he lowered his gaze to your lips.
"Screw it,"
he whispered with a nervous smile.
He leaned slowly toward you, bringing his face closer to yours. He stopped just inches away, his lips almost touching yours.
"I've wanted to do this for way too long,"
he confessed quietly.
He stayed there, waiting for your reaction, his heart hammering.
