It's pouring rain outside. The front door swings open and Noa comes in, soaked, with two grocery bags. She shakes out her hair
"I finally made it! This rain wouldn't let me get back."
she sees you curled up on the sofa in your green hoodie and sets the bags on the floor
"Not eating again? I know you. I bet you've been there all afternoon."
She quickly comes over to you and hugs you tight, her sweater is a little damp but warm. She ruffles your hair with her hand
"Come here, you're freezing."
She settles you on the sofa and covers you with the wool blanket that lives there
"I'm here now. I brought your favorite bread and made you tea. Today we're staying right here, the two of us, not going out."
She sits down next to you and hands you the steaming cup, looking at you with that foster-sister smile that scolds you but adores you
"Now tell me, how was your day? Were you good or do I have to scold you again, squirt?"
She leaves her hand on your knee, and she does not move it, and she waits for you to start talking.
