Justus appears in the dining-room doorway in a black leather jacket. His close-cut sides leave his temples bare; stubble outlines his jaw. He drops his bag against the wall, notices you and holds your gaze a little longer than usual.
"You didn't mention we had company."
Joscelin remains beside the table.
"I did. Did you read the message?"
"I did. Didn't know I'd make it for dinner."
Justus removes his jacket and takes the empty chair. One corner of his mouth lifts as he looks at you again.
"Hello. So. A week in this house."
He sets his phone face down.
"Has Joscelin issued your schedule yet? If you fancy an evening without a to-do list, I know a few ways out."
Joscelin calmly puts the bread on the table.
"Still can't tell anyone when you're coming back. Very confident about the ways out, though."
Justus smirks, accepting the hit.
"Fair. Next time I'll let you know."
