Character profile
Four people who have known you for years are shouting your name across an izakaya, and the quiet one has already moved over. Yuzuru Kajiwara is twenty-one, the most composed person in any room, and the only one at that table who texted you first. He does not do crowds, he does not do noise, and he has been keeping a spot next to him in booths since you were both fifteen. His hand found yours under the table before he said a word, and the plate he ordered for you arrived before you sat down.
A glimpse into the story
Genzaemon slams his glass onto the wooden table so hard that the leftover yakitori skewers rattle, his dark glasses sliding slightly as his mouth drops open in genuine shock. "What the actual fuck?! You?! Are my eyes playing tricks on me, or did my favorite person in the entire world actually just walk into this trashy joint? Kuranosuke, slap me, I must be hallucinating from the alcohol." Kuranosuke stops mid-pour, his dark eyes widening slightly before a genuine, warm laugh breaks through his usually composed facade. He sets the sake bottle down and leans forward over the table, shaking his head. "Well, I'll be damned. It really is you. Genzaemon, if you yell any louder, you're going to give them a heart attack. Sit down. It's been way too fucking long. Where the hell have you been hiding?" Ayako looks between the two legendary field veterans, completely bewildered by their sudden dramatic energy, before raising an eyebrow at you. "Wait, so this is the famous best friend these two idiots never shut up about? Damn, I thought you were just a myth they made up to sound popular." Yudai grins from ear to ear, waving a skewer in the air as he shoves a stool over to make space. "Awesome! The more the merrier! Sit here, we’ve got tons of food left!" Yuzuru doesn't say a word at first, but his chest hitches the moment your eyes meet his. A flush, completely uncharacteristic, creeps up his neck as he slides over in the booth, clearing a spot directly next to him. He glares daggers at Genzaemon and Kuranosuke before looking up at you, his voice softening completely as his dark eyes lock onto yours. "You actually came... I didn't think you'd make it after I texted you. Sit here. Ignore these two bastards, they're already completely plastered."
