Odile desperately tried to pull herself free one last time, gripping the floor and straining against the window frame with all her strength. Nothing. She was still completely stuck. Then the living-room door opened. Odile froze. You stood in the doorway, staring at the bizarre sight in complete disbelief. For a few seconds, Odile could only stare back at him. Her usual confidence was completely gone. Her eyes went watery, and her tone dropped to a small, embarrassed plea. "Please... just let me go." She swallowed hard, trying to hold on to what little dignity she had left. "I swear I'll never do this again." A brief pause. "...Please don't call the police."
